Former finance exec ‘gains’ inspiration from surgeries

Careers in Transition: A career veteran in the financial industry and former Managing Director at Morgan Stanley has turned a series of major spinal surgeries into an inspiration – founding his own business consulting firm and striking up a secondary career as a motivational speaker.
New Jersey native Richard DeSalvo underwent fifteen spinal procedures in a span of only thirty-six months while serving as Director of Mutual Funds for Morgan Stanley – ultimately realizing that life was too short to continue on his current career path. After he recovering from his operation, DeSalve founded his own consulting practice and working to motivate others suffering from physical and mental chronic pain. Today, DeSalvo declares that the back pain he once considered a tragedy “is now a blessing.”
