Disabled employees prove very ‘able’ to work

Careers in Transition: The Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey is a non-profit group that employs disabled people.  According to Abilities Center staff, having a job is fundamental to self-esteem, and disabled individuals should not be denied this basal right.  However, many adversaries feel that when a disabled person takes on a job, he or she is taking on the nugatory risk of losing federal benefits; to them, it is simply not worth it.  Unfortunately the argument may be a mute issue because the Abilities Center is receiving less dollars from the state and fundraising efforts as the recession drudges on.
