Business-minded engineers build new career forte

Career Education: As industry forges ahead, or at least the bright lights on the finance sector dim, science and business join forces at universities across the globe.  The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) is one of several colleges dedicated to providing their engineering students with the foundations of business management.  In today’s marketplace, it is not enough for a graduate to know the technicalities of engineering; he must also posses broad management skills since engineering encompasses so many industries.  Universities are tailoring MBA programs to accommodate the expanding demands of engineer employers, who expect a new hire to hold a diverse skill set.  And big business is certainly not taking a backseat in these dubitable times.  Finmeccanica, an Italian engineering company, is sponsoring a course in international business engineering at several schools including M.I.T.
